Upper and Lower School Rehearsal and Recital Schedule for the June 5th, 2011 Westport Dance Center Spring Performance

Tech Rehearsal Thursday, June 2nd

No lower school non-company members need to attend this rehearsal.

5-6 Petite A & B, Junior A & B, and Senior A & B for Opening and Finale

6pm Petite A & B Dismissal

6-9 Senior A, Senior B, Junior A, Junior B

9pm Dismissal

Dress Rehearsal Friday, June 3rd

3pm Senior A & B, Junior A & B arrive (stow away your costumes) go to assigned stations to chaperone

3:30 All other students arrive. Please have hair and make-up done at home. Drop off will be to the right of the lobby- at the velvet ropes. Make sure you put your child's name in all costumes. Please provide a comb or brush for your child. No food is allowed for the Lower School show. You may send your child with a covered water bottle. Your child will be picked up by their assigned chaperone and you are free to leave until pick-up time at 6pm. All children are well chaperoned in the dressing rooms and only can go to the bathroom with a chaperone etc. There will also be a closed circuit TV streaming the show live for the children to watch.

6pm Pick-up will be at the same place as drop-off. No parents are allowed backstage, please make a line at the velvet ropes and your child will be brought to you. The non-company students will bring home their costumes and return with them on Sunday, June 5th.

6-7 Break for company members who chaperoned lower school show.

6:30pm Non-company Upper School students arrive in their first costume with hair and make-up done. They must also have their names in all their costume pieces and shoes. Please include a comb or brush. There is no food allowed in the dressing rooms. You may bring a covered water bottle.

6:30-7 Upper School performers warm-up and dress for first piece.

7-10:30 Dress Rehearsal – Full run through of show in order. There will be a 15min intermission. (If a student is only in Act I, they can leave at intermission)

10:30-11:00 Clean-up, Dismissal

**Fooling around or rough housing will not be tolerated. If any student does not conduct themselves in a safe and respectful manner, WDC will ask them to be removed from the backstage area and they will not be allowed to participate in the show. This is for your own safety as well as the safety of others, and respect for the beautiful facility we are slowed to use.

Recital - Sunday, June 5th

12 noon Staff arrives to set-up at 12noon

12:15 Senior A & B, Junior A & B, and Petite A & B arrive

12:45 Students in Lower School arrive (students will not be accepted before 12:45) dressed in first costume with hair and make-up completed for first dance. Please make sure you put your child’s name in all costume pieces and shoes.

1:00 Doors to the Auditorium open.

1:30 Show – The show will run less than 1 ½ hours. No child will be dismissed until after the Finale.

Dismissal Pick-up will be exactly as Dress Rehearsal. PLEASE ONLY, one adult inline to pick up students or it becomes a mob scene.

3-3:45 Upper school chaperones eat and relax

3:45-4:30 Warm-up and dress for 1st piece

4:30 Upper Show

7:30-8:00 Clean-up and dismissal

Things to know-

We sell bouquets of flowers before the 1:30 show for you to present to your dancer. We sell flowers before the 4:30 show and at intermission, as well as cookies and bottled water at intermission.

We have a professional videographer who films both shows. You can place an order with the video rep in the lobby. It takes 4-6 weeks for them to be delivered.

We hope you enjoy the show. Above all, your children have worked very hard to prepare for this performance. Enjoy their endeavors and maintain a positive attitude so they will be relaxed and uplifted to be able to have the most enjoyable experience possible.

We have one more week of class after the show. Please come to class to get information for next year and to view the show.
